Boscombe Down Aviation Collection

Orignally located in a Hardened Aircraft Shelter on MoD Boscombe Down Airfield, BDAC  opened by Air Commodore Colin Cruickshanks in 1999 started to put together a collection of aircraft and other artefacts to tell the story of experimental test  flying at MoD Boscombe Down.

Forced to move in 2011, BDAC relocated to a 1918 Belfast Truss hanger at Old Sarum, a former World War One Airfield near Salisbury, Wiltshire. Opening its doors to the public in 2012 BDAC’s collection of both full airframe and cockpit sections has grown, with many of the aircraft cockpit sections open for visitors to sit in.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, BDAC has charitable status and relies upon entry fees, income from the well-stocked gift shop, and donations  to maintain its goals of bringing the importance of experimental test flying to future generations.

Just off the A345, two miles North of Salisbury, BDAC can be found at Hangar 1 South, Old Sarum Airfield, Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wiltshire. SP4 6DZ.

Note: Many of the parking areas on the airfield are pay and display. However, when parking at BDAC the parking fees are included in your entrance fee.
